Our Baba programme helps to nurture children in these institutions ensuring their need for care and stimulation are met in a close, caring relationship.

Give a gift that can change a child’s life Home for thousands of abandoned children in Bulgaria is a bleak state-run institution. Deprived of a loving parent or guardian these children can suffer long term damage including malnutrition, growth and developmental delay, emotional problems and learning difficulties.

The staff at these institutions are often responsible for more than 10 children at a time, feeding, washing and dressing the children as well as carrying out other cleaning duties. There is little time for individual attention or interaction. As a result children often spend their days lying in cribs or propped up on chairs with little stimulation or contact.

Our Baba programme helps to nurture children in these institutions ensuring their need for care and stimulation are met in a close, caring relationship. Surrogate Granny’s, or ‘Baba’s’ as they are called in Bulgaria, are selected from the local community to provide care and attention to two children for four hours a day. The Baba’s play, talk and give one-on-one care to each child and over time a trust and bond grows between them. It costs £30 a month to fund a Baba for one child, We will be launching our Baba Christmas Campaign on 8th November.

You can support our Campaign and help the abandoned children of Bulgaria from as little as £5. To find out more please email: info@tbact.org.uk
