Aid on a high note

Oxfordshire businessman Peter Florey, from Simon Florey & Son Marquee Hire, has today announced that he has teamed up with 13 year old Zoë Mace to create the first ever spectacular fundraising event called “Aid on a High Note”. Aid on a High Note will raise money for two very important charities, Bulgaria’s Abandoned Children Trust and Helen & Douglas House, to improve the quality of life for children with disabilities.

This inaugural event will be held on 19 April 2008 at Millets Farm, Oxfordshire and include performances from: Zoë Mace, a classically trained singer aged 13 who has been raising money for these charities since 2005 and attends Cokethorpe School in Witney; West End’s Chicago star Samantha Davis; Viva la Diva with European Latin American Dance gold medallist, Laetitia Burns; and The Young Guns String Octet.

Kate Blewett, who produced and presented BBC 2’s documentary ‘Bulgaria’s Abandoned Children’ and inspired the event, will be introducing the evening along with Sister Frances from Helen & Douglas House. Kate Blewett commented: “It’s going to be a spectacular event. Zoë is a very talented and a lovely girl who is lending us all her voice to raise awareness and money for vulnerable people who need our help.”

Zoë has been supporting many children’s charities including The Bulgaria’s Abandoned Children Trust and Helen & Douglas House for the last three years and raised an astonishing £120,000. Her passion and enthusiasm inspired local businessman Peter Florey, of Simon Florey and Son Marquee Hire, to get involved with her current project to raise awareness of the dreadful abuse of disabled children in Bulgaria.

Peter said: “After receiving Zoë’s email and watching BBC2’s documentary with Kate Blewett, I just couldn’t ignore Zoë’s request for help. As I am in a very fortunate position of owning an Oxfordshire based marquee hire company I knew I could help. I got involved and contacted Zoë Mace, and her mother, Linda Mace and decided to create the first ever spectacular evening of entertainment called Aid on a High Note. I am very much looking forward to the evening. Zoë is an extremely talented girl with a phenomenal voice. “

Simon Florey & Son Marquee Hire will be providing a beautiful marquee for the event which will seat 500 people. They are providing the marquee completely free of charge.

Donations from Aid on a High Note will improve the quality of life for children with all types of disabilities and life-shortening conditions.

Tickets cost £160 each and include a lavish three- course meal provided by Elegant Cuisine. Please contact Linda Mace on 01993 883805 or visit: www.aidonahighnote.co.uk for tickets.
