About us
TBACT is a British charity dedicated to helping disabled and disadvantaged children in Bulgaria. To keep overheads down to a minimum, we work remotely, avoiding the costs of a business office.
What we do
We campaign for an end to the use of institutional care for children in Bulgaria by raising awareness of the detrimental effects this type of care have on a child.
We lobby for change at a national level and for the human rights of all children to be respected.
We fund projects that prevent abandonment, permanently close residential institutions for children and resettle children into family homes. We support children who have suffered the damaging effects of institutional care and we help the families of disabled children who are struggling to cope.
Who we are
TBACT is run and managed by a core team of four:
Kate Blewett
Rosa Monckton
Siobhain Santry
Sophie Stewart
Bulgaria has the highest proportion of institutionalised children in Europe. Less than 2% of the children are orphans.
